Is my debt counsellor and PDA the same company?

No, the Debt Counsellor and Debt Counselling company is registered independently of the PDA. The PDA collect and distribute on behalf of these debt counselling companies, but are not the same company.

Where do I sign up for debt counselling?

You will contact a registered debt counsellor to sign up with and initiate the debt counselling process.

How will I know my creditors are paid each month?

Statements are obtainable via your debt counsellor each month that is compiled by the PDA showing all payments distributed to credit providers.

Can I stop my debt review with the PDA?

No, any changes to your debt review plan or circumstances must be discussed with your debt counsellor.

How will I know if I need debt counselling?

A debt counsellor can assess your financial situation and determine if you are over-indebted and need debt counselling.

Do the PDA keep records of transactions and payments of my plan?

The PDA is regulated and audited by the national credit regulator, and therefore keeps track of each and every receipt, payment made and distribution transactions with audit references to report on.

I don't know who my Debt Counsellor is, how do I find out?

Is debt counselling legal?

Debt Counselling is a legal process regulated by the National Credit Regulator as stipulated and published in the National Credit Act.
